Essential Oils and Pregnancy from Young Living

Young Living recently sent these helpful tips about using essential oils when you are pregnant:

What oils to avoid:

“some women choose to avoid excessive use of these specific oils:”

  • Clary Sage or Sage
  • Idaho Tansy or Hyssop
  • Fennel
  • Wintergreen
  • Blends and supplements that contain these oils

What oils can help:

Weeks 1-12 – start slow and see how you react to oils. If you do not have any issues, try diffusing a small amount or mixing oil with a carrier such as Young Living V6 or jojoba oil. Some great oils to start with are:

Lavender: To help calm your mind, your skin and helpful for burns.

Citrus Fresh: To give you a sense of well being for adults and children. It also helps relax you and can be good for insomnia.

Lemongrass: Can help with infection disease,  fever and purification.

Weeks 13 – 24 – continue using oils from the first trimester and add these to help boost your energy:

En-R-Gee: To help improve ones energy

Jade lemon: Can be very uplifting

Weeks 25- 39 – Diffuse Valor II or White angelica to boost confidence and self esteem

However, essential oil usage is a personal choice, and there are no hard-and-fast rules. Just be sure to follow label directions and consult a medical professional with essential oil experience to be as safe as possible. When used correctly, essential oils can help form a beautiful bond between motherhood and Mother Nature.
