Size Does Matter – How To Size Your Swiss Ball or Physio Ball

Several stretches and exercises in my blogs use Swiss balls, so it is important to get the right Swiss ball for your height. You know you have the right size Swiss ball when you sit on a Swiss ball and your thighs are parallel to the floor or, slightly higher if you need more curve in your lower back. This size will support your back and body in all types of exercises. The rule of thumb for selecting the right Swiss ball for you is:

Swiss Ball Sizing

Under 5”2” 45cm Swiss ball
5’2” – 5’8” 55cm Swiss ball
5’9” – 6’2” – 65cm Swiss ball
6’3” and above 75cm Swiss ball

Not all Swiss balls are created equally, so make sure your Swiss ball is anti-burst up to 1,000 pounds.

Best place to get a Swiss ball:

FitterFirst – Duraball Pro is the best ball on the market as it holds it shape, fits your body, and is anti-burst.

Note: many of the Swiss ball exercises can be performed on the floor. Please see the modification section for each exercise.
