Super Greens, Are They Really Super?

Super Green Powders are sold everywhere today. They are loaded with healthy greens, but often time loaded with ingredients that may irritate your gut over time. Did you know that most types of “cereal grasses” are hard for humans to digest?

I follow Autumn at Paleo Valley and she always offers excellent nutritional tips and clean products. Her last post about grasses I found very interesting as it explains why I get a tummy ache after drinking smoothies with super greens in them!

“These grasses contain a lectin called wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) which is highly inflammatory. Certain experts believe that WGA may be as responsible for the health-damaging effects of wheat as gluten, and many who are gluten sensitive also have issues with WGA.” ~ Autumn Smith Paleo Valley Founder

So, if you are making super green shakes and you find your tummy doesn’t always feel great afterward, it may be the grasses!

Here are 3 super greens I found that do not contain grasses and are made with good organic ingredients. Happy shaking.
