My Go-To Cold and Flu Fighters
Summer is over and fall is upon us, potentially with new cold and flu viruses in the air. That being the case, I want to share with you my top 5 go-to products for combating any season’s ailments!
These must-have flu season defenses are:
1. Silver Blaster by L.A. Naturals
2. Viral Fungal Fighter
3. Young Living – Thieves Essential Oil Blend
4. Young Living – Raven Essential Oil Blend
5. Young Living – Immupower Essential Oil Blend
Silver Blaster – An amazing blend of Olive Leaf, Colloidal Silver, and Oregano Oil
This is my first go-to whenever I feel something coming on. I spray it in my mouth 3-4x a day. I am a big believer in colloidal silver helping me when I’m sick, so I typically go for the nose spray and silver blaster. I feel using these products in moderation will not cause ill effects, however, I have posted the risks below so you are aware of them. You will also see links to articles promoting their safety. Always consult your physician if you are unsure about a product for your health and safety.
Let’s take a peek at each ingredient so you know how it works.
Olive Leaf Extract
Olive leaf extract has therapeutic properties that include:
- gastroprotective (protects digestive system)
- neuroprotective (protects central nervous system)
- antimicrobial (inhibits microorganism growth)
- anticancer (reduces the risk of cancer)
- anti-inflammatory (reduces the risk of inflammation)
- antinociceptive (reduces pain stimuli)
- antioxidant (prevents oxidation or cell damage)
These properties mean that olive leaf extract may help with colds, cases of flu, and autoimmune issues.
Colloidal Silver
This is a great antibacterial product. NCBI has recently published several articles promoting the benefits and safety of using colloidal silver. It is known to kill superbugs, such as MRSA, and has been tested against 650 common and exotic infections and diseases.

Possible risks and complications of oral colloidal silver.
Healthline, the mayo clinic, and WebMD feel that silver taken by mouth can’t be recommended. Over time, colloidal silver can build up in the tissues of your body and give your mucous membranes and skin a grayish appearance. This is a symptom of a condition called argyria.
Agyria isn’t reversible. Argyria by itself isn’t dangerous, and is defined as being “medically benign.” Of course, any skin discoloration isn’t exactly a welcome side effect.
Colloidal silver also interferes with your body’s absorption of certain drugs. These include antibiotics and thyroid deficiency medication. So if you are taking these medications, I would not take silver.
Nursing and pregnant women who try colloidal silver as an alternative to some cold and flu drugs should keep in mind that no trial has ever proven colloidal silver to be safe for a developing baby. When things aren’t proven safe, they can’t be recommended for use.

Oregano Oil
Oregano has been popular ever since the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations used it for medicinal purposes. The name oregano comes from the Greek words “oros,” meaning mountain, and “ganos,” meaning joy or delight.
The herb has also been used for centuries as a culinary spice.
Oregano contains compounds called phenols, terpenes, and terpenoids. They have powerful antioxidant properties as well as antiviral properties.
- Carvacrol. The most abundant phenol in oregano, it has been shown to stop the growth of several different types of bacteria
- Thymol. This natural antifungal can also support the immune system and protect against toxins
- Rosmarinic acid. This powerful antioxidant helps protect against damage caused by free radicals
These compounds are thought to underlie oregano’s many health benefits.
Research has also shown that oregano essential oil can help fight viral or bacterial infections. It is also very helpful with fungus.
Caution: Oregano oil is very strong and can hurt soft tissues of the body such as the genital area, eyes, nose, and mouth. Always use a carrier oil with it and be sure to wash hands well after using it.

Grape Seed Extract
This is an amazing antioxidant and can help with cholesterol, eye disorders from diabetes, and improve circulation. It can have some side effects such as dizziness, headaches, and nausea and should not be taken if you have high blood pressure or a bleeding disorder. As always, consult your physician before introducing a new supplement to your routine.

This extract is believed to be antimicrobial helping with colds, cold sores, acne, allergies, sore throat, and athlete’s foot. There are a few good drops and sprays as well you can use for your sinuses when you have a cold.

Oil Uses and Application:
All of the oils above can be diffused into the air as well as placed on the ‘vita flex’ points of the feet, see diagram above and also placed on the areas in need. I suggest the following:
For Colds or Flus:
1. Mix thieves with a carrier oil such as olive oil or almond oil and rub it on your chest, bottoms of your feet, throat, stomach, and intestines. This will help eradicate any ailments you may have. You can alternate placing thieves on your throat and Immupower on your feet and switch each dose. I recommend doing this upon waking, again at lunch, and again before bed.
Be sure to mix all oils with a carrier oil as they are quite strong and can cause skin irritation. If you have sensitive skin, diffuse the oils or rub them on the bottoms of your feet.
Raven can be used with a carrier oil directly on the area that is having issues. If you have a cough, place the oil on your throat and chest. I often dab a little under my nose if I have a runny nose.
