You Need To Drink Water

by | Feb 3, 2021

Our bodies are 70-75% water. Water is essential for maintaining a stable environment inside and around our cells, allowing us to acquire sufficient nutrition and aiding in the elimination of waste in cells. Drinking half your body weight in ounces of water a day is important for the average person.  So if you weigh 120 pounds, you need to drink 60-70 ounces of filtered water a day.

Make sure you are drinking water that is stored in a container that does not leak all sorts of plastic chemicals into the water. The water you are drinking should have a hardness factor of 170/mg/L or greater and a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) of 300 or greater. Consider buying a water filtration system for the house or using a filter system sold in most camping stores to filter your water.

One of the best ways to carry your water around with you, and for your child, is using a steel container such as Klean Kanteen (www.kleankanteen.com). Also, adding a pinch of sea salt to your water can help your body absorb the water better and reduce the frequency of needing to urinate.

Lastly, we also drink the water on our skin, 60% of the chemicals and chlorine in water is absorbed through our skin. It is important to use filtration systems in the bath and shower, either by placing them directly on the pipe or purchasing a household water filtration system.

EWG has recently put out some amazing information on finding out exactly what is in your drinking water, how to choose a water filter and why buying small bottles of water is not a good option.

An excellent resource on why we need to drink water is Your Body’s Many Cries for Water by F. Batmanghelidj, M.D.

I donate to EWG quite frequently as they do a lot to research what is in products we put in and on our bodies. They really are quite wonderful so consider giving them a small donation if you can.
